One of the "normal" weather phenomena we face every time we fly into San Francisco (SFO), is the fog banks that develop with NO notice. It's amazing how the sky can be clear for miles and a few minutes later a thick fog bank has rolled in and dropped the visibility to a few yards. When I was recently in SFO, I observed this thick fog bank rolling across the bay. You could hear the large ships horns blowing in the distance, and then see them as they "ghostly" appeared from the fog. It was so eerie!!!
