YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

A couple of weeks ago I noticed some "vacationers" at the beach. Of course their was a LITTLE bit of wind, which makes these particular umbrellas practically worthless. I would say 95% of this type umbrella end up in the garbage can when the beach goers leave. For $4.95 I guess they are getting exactly what they paid for...........CRAP. Glad I've never done that before.....LOL

DOG SURFING!!!

Well, I'm sorry I haven't posted anything lately. Have been to the doctors office and examined by a nerve doctor who found I've got some problems with the nerves in my right arm. Hopefully the situation will be better in the next 2-3 weeks. Seems my military posture was TOO straight, and I needed to have a bit of curvature in my neck in order to get the pressure off the nerves. So I'm doing neck exercises and taking medication to get the problem resolved. Sooooooo, since I can't do much of anything until this is taken care of, I decided to look up some older photos I thought you might enjoy. Here's one taken at South Beach of a guy trying to teach his dog to surf. The little guy seemed to be having a pretty good time and any time he fell off he'd jump right back on. Can't tell if that's a GPS or camera on the front of the board.........not that the little dog could read a GPS, but who knows? Some of these guys are pretty smart!!!

SEARCHING FOR HUMOR

Someone sent this to me and I couldn't help but laugh a bit when I saw it. Sad thing though, is how true this is. Going through security at the airport certainly isn't what it used to be, that's for sure. It has gone so far past where it should be, that common sense isn't used any more. Too bad little kids will never know how things were before 9-11. Maybe they should have used a crew member instead of a kid for this cartoon. Seems like we get pulled over for secondary screening all the time..............and we're in CONTROL of the airplane, contrary to what the screeners may think. Go figure.

INCREDIBLE SUNSET

While commuting to Newark (EWR) from Ft. Lauderdale (FLL) the other day, I snapped a few shots of what I thought was one of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen while airborne. Here's one of those shots. When I see sights like this, I KNOW their must be a God. I printed this one up and the colors were incredible. I think this one will be hanging up in my living room soon................... Click on the photo to enlarge it and then click on the lower right hand corner to make it even larger. What do you think?

KOEN SLUGS CARLA AT THE BEACH

Today my friends from Belgium, Koen and Carla, wanted to go to South Beach. So.....off we went. Koen was having a great time when Carla apparently tried to take his swimsuit off in the water.....................resulting in Carla getting socked by Koen. Koen looks pretty proud of himself, don't you think?? (see attached photo). Pretty neat, eh? Nah, I'm just kidding. Carla had a bad sunburn from "missing" part of her shoulder with the suntan lotion. Glad I've never done that.......LOL Anyways, we had a great time at the beach.

OIL SPILL DEVASTATION

Yesterday while flying from Miami (MIA) to Houston (IAH), we flew directly over the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Our stomachs literally turned as we saw the polluted water for literally hundreds of miles.........as far as you could see. I've attached a couple of photos to show you just how bad this really is........and it is BAD. For those who think drill, drill, drill, is the answer, these photos might change your mind. The Saudi's have nothing to lose but sand......while we have beaches, wildlife, and livelihoods from fishing being lost by the day. The sad thing is, is that this is going to cost a fortune to clean up, and decades for the environment to recover from. And it seems fixing this SINGLE well is far from being accomplished. Their are literally thousands of wells already drilled in the Gulf, but it only took ONE spill to make everyone realize just how serious an oil leak can be. Hopefully the next time I fly over the Gulf, the water will be blue again. Click on the photos to enlarge them.

IGUANA ON SOUTH BEACH

Here's a sight you don't see very often............an iguana heading out to the beach for some R and R. With the cold spell we experienced here a couple of months ago, quite a few iguanas died as a result of the "continuous low temperatures" which finally take their toll. I read where three or four days of cold weather destroys their ability to stay warm, and makes them susceptible to a quick death. Quite a few Floridians were happy at the result since iguanas tend to destroy plant life and make a mess in many of their habitats. The iguanas were also getting very aggressive and taking over quite a few parks in south eastern Florida. At any rate, here's a shot of a "handsome young fellow" out enjoying a nice day at the beach.
